The Haryana government, on 9th August, Wednesday announced that the women will be provided with free bus service in the state for 24 hours on Raksha Bandhan. The state has made this decision as a form of gift to all the sisters on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The free bus facility will be available from 12 noon on 29th August to 12 AM, midnight on 30th August.
Mool Chand Sharma, the Haryana transport minister, said that Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar had approved this decision. He added that the Haryana's transport department has provided a free bus service for women for the past several years.
Women of all ages can travel on ordinary and standard buses in Haryana. Children up to 15 years of age traveling with women are also eligible for traveling for free in the Haryana buses.
It must be noted that the free bus facility in Haryana does not apply to AC buses. Women who will be taking AC buses for travel have to pay for the bus tickets. Those traveling out of Haryana by bus also have to pay for the bus tickets.
