Raksha Bandhan is around the corner, and siblings across the globe are excited about this festival. In this festival, sisters tie a sacred thread called 'Rakhi' to their brother, and in return, the brother promises to protect his sister from all evils. Siblings also exchange gifts on this occasion.
We all know that many people from Punjab live abroad, and sisters living in Punjab struggle a lot to send Rakhi to their brothers who live far away. The postal department in Punjab has started preparations almost a month in advance.
This year, the Indian Post Office has made special efforts to make Raksha Bandhan memorable for brother-sisters. To cater to the needs of sisters sending Rakhis to their brothers, especially those living abroad or far away, the Post Office has introduced these new envelopes in two distinct colours: pink and off-white. Each envelope is not only waterproof but also tear-resistant, ensuring that the Rakhi remains protected during transit. These envelopes are affordably priced at Rs 15 and Rs 20, making them accessible to everyone who wishes to send their Rakhi with confidence.
Additionally, for those sending Rakhis internationally, the Post Office offers a special printed box priced at Rs 50. This box is designed to further safeguard the Rakhi during international shipping and to add a personal touch, highlighting the thoughtful gesture to send Rakhi to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and other cities.
The new waterproof envelopes are available at 235 post offices across the Kapurthala Division. This extensive availability is intended to accommodate the large number of people from Punjab who have family members living abroad. By making these envelopes widely accessible, the Post Office aims to facilitate a smoother and more reliable Rakhi delivery process.
Superintendent Sanjeev Kumar Chugh and Inspector Aman Mehta of the Kapurthala Division emphasized the significance of this initiative. They noted that the envelopes have been designed with both quality and affordability in mind. "Our goal is to make sure that every Rakhi sent through the postal service arrives in perfect condition," said Chugh. "By offering these waterproof and tear-proof envelopes at a low cost, we hope to support sisters in celebrating Raksha Bandhan with their loved ones, regardless of the distance."
The effort to provide secure and affordable packaging solutions underscores the Post Office's dedication to improving customer experience and supporting traditional celebrations. By addressing the logistical challenges associated with sending Rakhis, the Indian Post Office has reinforced its role in facilitating important cultural practices and enhancing the joy of Raksha Bandhan.
